Torres del Paine, Torres de Paine, Chile
Full Day Torres del Paine
The excursion begins at Weskar Lodge with pickup from 7:00 AM and heads to Villa Cerro Castillo, the capital of the Torres del Paine commune. During the 45-minute drive we will see Magellanic forest, glacial valleys, mountain ranges, and lakes along the roadside.
The itinerary continues to the Lago Sarmiento viewpoint, the first photo stop with views toward the Paine mountain range. With good weather, it will be possible to get a first panoramic view of the entire Torres del Paine mountain range, the southern extension of the Andes, and the impressive Lago Sarmiento.
After this stop we will head to Laguna Amarga, a favored habitat for flamingos and where we will enjoy a lovely view of the granite towers while we register our entry to the park.
The next viewpoints to visit will be Lake Nordenskjöld, Salto Grande Viewpoint, Pehoé Viewpoint, Weber Bridge, Paine River and Lake Grey. At this last stop we will have time for lunch (service not included in the price) and to walk around the area.
We will exit Torres del Paine National Park via the southern section, and our final stop facing Torres del Paine will be the Grey viewpoint. From here you can observe the range of mountains that dominate the western part of the province, the vast Lake Toro, and—if weather conditions allow—a section of the Grey Glacier.
After about a one-hour drive, we will reach the highlight of the day, the Cueva del Milodón Natural Monument. This protected area, the second most visited in the Magallanes region, is a site of great historical, archaeological, and paleontological importance.

Mirador Las Torres Base, Torres del Paine, Chile
Trekking to the Base of the Towers
One of the must-do activities in Patagonia. A route through forests, rivers, shrubs and rock to reach one of the most sought-after viewpoints on a demanding hike of approximately 9 hours, covering a total of 24 km.
Our journey will begin at 6:30 AM from Puerto Natales to arrive at Laguna Amarga, in the north sector of the park, where we will complete the required check-in with our park entrance tickets, then continue to the activity’s starting point located in the Cerro Paine Reserve.
At this point we will prepare our gear and receive the guide’s pre-departure instructions. Our guide will explain the proper use of trekking poles as well as how to fit crampons and gaiters if necessary. These latter items are considered for the winter season in case there is snow or ice along the route.
The first 1 hour and 30 minutes are a steady ascent, with some gentler sections and low vegetation, until reaching the “Paso de los Vientos.” From there we’ll begin an approximate 30-minute descent to Refugio Chileno for a short rest. The route continues for about 1 hour through lenga forests running parallel to the Ascencio River, which we will cross at several points and which accompanies us for much of the trek.
The final stretch features a 300-meter climb and challenging terrain with rocks and some forest in the first 25 minutes. The very last section is an exposed trail with no vegetation, looser ground, and a rapid gain in elevation with views toward the valley’s final section. Once we reach our goal—standing before the imposing Torres del Paine—we will take the necessary time to eat, photograph, and enjoy the view. The descent and return to the vehicle are made along the same trail.

Grey Glacier, Torres de Paine, Chile
Glacier Navigation on Lake Grey
To take part in this activity we must check in at the Hotel Lago Grey facilities in Torres del Paine 1 hour before each departure to complete the check-in and then begin the navigation to Grey Glacier. It is one of the must-do excursions when visiting Torres del Paine National Park. This 3-hour voyage is aboard the catamaran “Grey III” and allows us to enjoy an unparalleled landscape of floating icebergs, lush vegetation, and towering mountains.
To reach the boarding area we will need to walk 35–40 minutes (1.5 km) from the parking area located on the banks of the Pingo River. We will cross a bridge over the river of the same name, walk through an old-growth lenga forest, and then continue across Playa Grey to board the catamaran.
The Grey Glacier is part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field and is located in the western sector of Torres del Paine National Park. It is an ice mass approximately 6 km wide with a height that ranges between 20 and 30 meters. Its namesake lake reaches depths of over 500 meters in some areas.
During the navigation we approach the different faces of the glacier, allowing us to observe the beauty and magnitude of this ice giant. At the end of the activity, we must make the same return walk to the parking area.

Torres del Paine National Park, Sarmiento Lake, Torres de Paine, Chile
Hiking Portería Sarmiento
An excursion that links two of the four entrances to Torres del Paine National Park, allowing us to visit a little-known area that is very attractive for wildlife watching. Its scenic environment is undoubtedly a place worth exploring. Upon entering the park through the Lago Sarmiento gate we begin the trail with a gentle incline and lateral views of the imposing namesake lake. Almost the entire route borders private land, a usual hunting area for the region’s largest predator, the puma.
After about one hour of walking we reach a rock shelter where it is possible to observe a series of rock paintings dating back more than 6,000 years. The conditions in this area allowed it to be frequented by indigenous groups for thousands of years in search of food across the continent. Here we can photograph the surroundings and appreciate the rugged geography associated with the uplift of high peaks and vast stretches of land toward the eastern side.
After about two hours of walking we arrive at the park’s main access point: the Laguna Amarga gate. Before beginning the descent over conglomerate rock, it will be possible to see the winding course of the Paine River. After a stop to use the facilities, we will return to the vehicle and head to the Paine Waterfall sector. The day continues toward Cañadón Macho, an area where it is possible to observe large groups of guanacos living alongside species such as the rhea (ñandú), gray fox, condor, and black-chested buzzard-eagle, among others.
After crossing this extensive valley we will begin the return to the city of Puerto Natales, concluding the day with the feeling of having experienced a true adventure—away from crowds and immersed in the wild landscapes of Southern Patagonia.

Cerro Benítez, Natales, Chile
Trekking Cerro Benítez
We will discover traces of the past as we head north of Puerto Natales. A little over 25 km away, we will begin an exploration day walking through the Archaeological Park located within Estancia Ernesto Helmer.
The route offers views of imposing mountains, crevices, rock shelters, and valleys. In the area you can access condor perches that dominate the skies, and once we reach the summit we will enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the Eberhard Fjord, Señoret Channel, and the iconic Laguna Sofía.
Cerro Benítez is part of an archaeological and paleontological sector that houses rock paintings roughly 3,500 years old. We will visit the Window Cave and then enter the hidden cave from the southeast side, entering with headlamps and crawling on hands and knees. This cave is approximately 4 meters high and about 70 square meters in area. Inside we can observe millennia-old stalactites formed by the accumulation of salts and minerals due to constant water seepage and dripping over thousands of years.
Once this adventure is complete, we will exit the cave and head toward a group of rock shelters called “Dos Herraduras.” Along this stretch we will walk through lush forests and finally view the rock art on the walls of this rocky formation, which was once seabed.
SERVICE INCLUDES:
- Shared transportation.
- Local bilingual guide (Spanish / English).
- Trekking poles.
- Headlamps.
SERVICE DOES NOT INCLUDE:
- Entrance to the private rock art park ($10,000 cash payable on site).
